Shopping
As we say in Singapore, when the going gets tough, the tough go shopping.
With most stores staying open until 9pm or later, there’s nothing better than heading off for some retail therapy after a hard day’s work.
Shop with Ease
There’s so much variety you’ll appreciate why our weekly Late Night Shopping thrills – with doors closing on Saturdays only at 11pm – is such a hit. There’s even Mustafa Centre, our own 24-hour comprehensive department store for those who just can’t find the time otherwise.
With modern shopping malls in every neighbourhood and at just about every MRT station, picking up that little something for yourself or the home has never been so convenient. Soak in the downtown vibes of Orchard Road, where covered linkways or underpasses lead you from one shopping haven to another. Ngee Ann City is just one of such mega malls which offers everything from popular international high-street brands like Mango, Zara and Guess?, to departmental store Takashimaya, to boutique favourites such as Louis Vuitton and Armani Exchange. At Lucky Plaza, you can get your bespoke suits tailored and your high heels made to order. Check out also new kids on the block, Iluma, Ion Orchard, and Orchard Central, which join the more than 35 other shopping centres in the precinct.
Something for Everyone
Further afield, but no less enticing, you can find similarly exciting malls such as VivoCity; and for the electronics buffs, specialist malls like Sim Lim Centre and Funan Digitalife Mall offer great deals for the savvy shopper. Book lovers will find their sweet spot among the extensive shelves of major stores such as Borders from the US and Kinokuniya from Japan; Kinokuniya’s Ngee Ann City branch is the biggest bookstore in Singapore and Southeast Asia. The sporty are not left out – shopping is after all considered a national sport – with dedicated sports mall Novena Velocity, meeting your athletic needs.
For a taste of Singapore fashion for all occasions, pick up something edgy from Nicholas at Tangs Department Store, a dressy outfit from alldressedup at The Link Boutique, fashion-conscious workwear from Raoul at Paragon, or eveningwear from Francis Cheong at Orchard Shopping Centre.
And if you really can’t get away from your desk, you’re only a couple of clicks away from thousands of local on-line stores offering unique products at amazing prices.
Gear up for the annual Great Singapore Sale, which stretches over June and July. And be sure of service you can trust, when you see the Singapore Service Star label.
