Fun
Singapore may be small yet there are countless options for having fun.
From the electrifying F1 scene to tranquil tramps round a mangrove swamp, weekends are fulfilling and easily filled all year round.
Places
Sentosa is the place to go for fun-seekers. A giant playground catering to all tastes, its diverse attractions range from the natural to the high-tech. In 2010, Resorts World at Sentosa – one of the two integrated resorts to open in Singapore – will up the ante with its own collection of theme parks, including Universal Studios Singapore.
The Botanic Gardens not only offers a beautiful space for walks and picnics but also holds regular concerts. Singapore’s 45 other public parks and gardens provide even more green options, from hiking 25m above a forest along the HSBC TreeTop Walk to birdwatching at the Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve.

Thrills
At 165m off the ground, the Singapore Flyer is the world’s largest observation wheel. Enjoy a Signature Cocktail Flight with breathtaking views of Singapore and even Batam, an Indonesian island across the sea. If that whets your appetite for the sea, charter a boat for fishing or exploring Singapore’s Southern Islands. You can also easily hop onto regular bumboats that service these islands.
Pulau Ubin is also a short bumboat ride away for a glimpse at Singapore’s old kampong life. Catch your ride from the Changi Jetty in Changi Village, on the eastern tip of Singapore, which in itself is worth a visit. A day is easily spent here exploring the quaint shops, trekking round the boardwalk, relaxing at the beach. A rustic meal followed by a sensual spa experience at the Changi Village Hotel caps it all off nicely. Not far off is the Changi Chapel and Museum, which commemorates the WWII prisoners of war.
If that’s too chill for you, how about having a drink? For SGD 10.70, take a tour around the Tiger Tavern, home of Singapore’s award-winning Tiger Beer. End the day by knocking back a free flow of the premium brew while picking up the finer points of enjoying the drink.
Spills
A novel way to enjoy the Singapore River is to fly over it, on the GX-5 Extreme Swing, part of the G-Max Reverse Bungy experience.
For those who prefer their thrills as spectators, Singapore’s own Formula 1 Singtel Grand Prix’s unique night races provide an unparalleled experience. The new highlight of the international racing circuit, the Singapore F1 experience comes with concerts and celebrities who fly in for that terrific party atmosphere.
