Entry into Singapore
Several programmes and initiatives ease the entry and stay of entrepreneurs and investors in Singapore.
One of them is the Global Investor Programme (GIP) administered by Contact Singapore, which provides an avenue for permanent residency, plus links to local business networks.
The Ministry of Manpower furnishes an EntrePass to entrepreneurs actively involved in the start-up and operation of a company in Singapore. This allows the investor and the immediate family to live here while the business is being grown, and to leave and re-enter smoothly. The two-year validity is renewable as long as the business remains viable.
For entrepreneurs who need to spend up to six months in Singapore for feasibility studies or business negotiations, a Long Term Visit Pass (LTVP) is ideal as it negates the need to apply for a visa with each visit. A Letter of Support from the Economic Development Board is required with each application to the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority.
Multiple Journey Visas (MJV) are offered to business executives from countries requiring a visa to Singapore, allowing multiple short stays within a one, two, or five-year period. Application is through the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA).
See Immigration for a complete list of passes.
