For over 20 years, Singapore has been one of the world’s busiest ports in terms of shipping tonnage.

Our strategic location and sophisticated infrastructure have enabled the city to become a magnet for container operators, shipping and ship management firms, offshore marine engineering and petrochemicals companies, and companies offering maritime ancillary services. The maritime industry accounts for about 7% to Singapore’s GDP.

Homegrown company Keppel has made waves globally as the world’s top designer and builder of jack-up rigs. It is also a leading ship repairer for carriers of liquefied natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas and a niche player in specialised conversions and construction. Singapore has also attracted international players, such as BERG Propulsion of Sweden, a leading manufacturer of controllable pitch propellers, which located its first overseas production facility here.
