The major employers in the healthcare industry include both public sector and private institutions.
Public Sector:
To enhance the overall public healthcare system’s performance, the Ministry of Health Holdings (MOHH) was formed to undertake the strategic initiatives for the Ministry of Health and public healthcare comprising a portfolio of companies. These include Singapore Health Services (Singhealth), National Healthcare Group (NHG), National University Health System (NUHS), Alexandra Health and Jurong Health Services (JurongHealth).

Private Institutions:
Primary healthcare, including preventive healthcare and health education, are largely provided for by some 2,200 private medical clinics. These private practitioners provide about 80% of primary healthcare services, while government polyclinics provide the remaining 20%. However, public sector hospitals provide 80% of the more costly hospital tertiary care with the remaining 20% by private hospital care.
