International Student Passes
The admissions process may differ for international students depending on the type of pass they hold, and their parents’ immigration status.
Students without Dependant’s Pass or IEO and do not have a parent who is a Singapore citizen or PR
International students who do not hold a Dependant’s Pass or an IEO, and whose parents are not Singapore citizens or a Singapore PRs must take part in the AEIS for admission into mainstream public primary and secondary schools.
If you are unable to make it for the AEIS, you may approach the school of your choice directly. You will need to pass a Qualifying Test before applying (not applicable to those seeking admission to Primary 1 or Junior Colleges).
For admission into Primary 1, you may register with the school of choice during or after Phase 3 of the annual Primary 1 Registration Exercise.
Admission is subject to vacancy and the meeting of the individual school’s admission criteria. Some schools require applicants to pass a placement test. If you meet the school’s admission criteria and there are available vacancies at the school, you will receive a Student’s Pass Online Application & Registration (SOLAR+) acknowledgement letter from the school. You will need to apply for and return to the school with the Student’s Pass before you can be admitted.
Students with Dependant’s Pass, IEO or who have a parent who is a Singapore citizen or PR
International students who hold a Dependant’s Pass, an Immigration Exemption Order (IEO) or who have either parent who is a Singapore citizen or a Singapore Permanent Resident (PR) may approach any school of their choice directly for admissions or take part in the Admissions Exercise for International Students (AEIS).
