India
India is one of the major recruitment markets for developed countries and with good reason.
The country offers a massive talent pool of professionals, especially in ICT.
Qualifications and Expertise
Indian professionals are quickly making their mark in many fields. It is said that about one-third of software engineers in California’s Silicon Valley are from India. Apart from ICT, Indians have also made inroads into engineering, business and biological sciences.
India has over 220 universities and over 450 engineering colleges, some of which have standards equivalent to the US’ Ivy League universities, such as the Indian Institutes of Management. The Indian Institutes of Technology enrol fewer than 3% of applicants, an extremely competitive rate by any standards.
Recruitment Considerations
Indian professionals are highly sought after and for this reason, they expect to be paid competitive wages. In fact, they command wages on par with professionals from developed nations. Most of the best technology specialists hold Master’s degrees. As an employer, you will need to take into consideration Singapore’s cost of living when designing your compensation package.
To recruit in India, you will need to work with a licensed employment agency, which will help with the advertising and liaise with Institutes of Higher Learning in India. You can also partner Contact Singapore, which organises regular recruitment events in August, November and December. The recommended period of recruitment in India is from April to late July for graduating students and working professionals.
